As I was completing my Bachelor's degree at MCAD (Minneapolis College of Art and Design), I had the opportunity to work with the web communications department at my school. Working with this department, I was responsible for many different tasks and projects, including everything from researching new features, building new additions, and maintaining the current website for the school.
Working the staff of MCAD I was given many different challenges varying from creating a calendar widget for events that MCAD offers, to researching and utilizing map plugins to showcase the vast breath MCAD alumni around the world. I was challenged in many different ways both as a designer and developer to research and develop many new innovative solutions to problems assigned throughout my time at this school.
Being both a design and developer, I was able to utilize both spectrums of my background to create interesting and unique solutions to the many tasks that were assigned to me daily. Some of the solutions that I brought to the website was utilizing and modifying modules in Drupal to create or enhance areas of the current website, using key pair variables in web storage API to create and retrieve user preferences in certain scenarios, and finally using Framer and Sketch to create new interactive mockups for future website concepts.
